Running in the metropolitan area of Los Angeles is dangerous for my health?

Attempt to operate around the USC campus that is close enough to the city center. There are lots of way and construction of the cars that are lit. More Los Angeles as a whole, is notorious for smog and air pollution. But I don 't want to work within, because I come originally from a very clean, quiet, and small town near Seattle, Washington, and I'm used to running outside.
