What do I need to do to learn how to do real estate closings?

I want to get into the business of conducting real estate title closings. I have no experience in the business but hear that it can be pretty lucrative. I am a notary public & will be taking a prep course for title insurance sales to take the state licensing exam. In the meantime, I want to get the experience of how to do just the closings–real estate, re-fi, etc. live in NJ

Flatlake real estate
I think you might need a real estate license, but you might be able to go to work for a title company without that. You could check with the local title companies and see what their requirements were and also see if they had any openings for trainees or internships.

This is a serious job and requires extensive knowledge of local real estate law, contracts, finance, title and survey work – plus government regulations, knowledge about local homeowner and condo associations, and real estate tax.
It is not something you can learn on your own, from a book or a video or through osmosis.
And it is only lucrative in markets where houses are selling fairly well, because right now, the market is soft – and so the usual closers at banks and title companies are being laid off for lack of work to do.
If this is something you want to pursue, look into your local college programs for real estate closers.
Or, find a local bank or title company willing to train you – which may be difficult in today’s market. As I said, most of them are downsizing this area right now.
