Are real estate agents eligible for unemployment benefits?

In the state of Georgia, the Dept of Labor states “You must be unemployed through no fault of your own”. Real estate sales have completely stopped and there is no work/business. Would real estate agents be eligible for unemployment?

May qualify for some or partial, all depends on how much you paid in, you can always call & ask…

It depends on your particular position, but I think most real estate agents are, legally, independent contractors – that is, though they work through a firm (ReMax or ERA or whatever) they are technically self-employed individuals who contract with that firm for support services. As such, they don’t pay into the unemployment compensation system and aren’t eligible to collect from it.
