Would you say this is a bad time to start a sales career in NYC Real Estate?
Samantha asked:
I just started working in NYC Real Estate.. got in at the top residential firm, have made a few deals already and find that I’m very good at it– love the industry– but my funds are running low and I’m wondering if I should stick with it or go back to corporate while trying to do it part-time? I’ve been told that part-time for sales in RE doesn’t cut it… any suggestions from RE veterans? Thanks!

You’ve always got to make your own rain in this industry. If you’re not getting enough clients and sales to support you, that’s a real issue.
On the other hand, one of the most successful agents I know works long hours as a shipbuilder and only works real estate a few hours per day, a few days per week. All his contacts in the shipyard come to him. He’s always got transactions going.
That’s not to say he’s a great agent, but he’s successful.
It all depends upon what use you make of the situation.
